The Office for Civil Rights opens investigation of Middletown's scream rooms

People outside of the disabilities community are shocked that scream rooms exist, thinking that the horrific situation in Middletown is unique to this district.  But students with disabilities are locked in seclusion rooms around the state every school day.  Believe it or not, the State of Connecticut permits the use of scream rooms, even for non-emergency situations.  It's important that OCR has opened an investigation (see attachment below), and maybe we can make a difference for all children with disabilities.

I hope that Middletown parents whose children have been locked in these rooms will contact me directly, so we can provide further information to OCR.  diane.willcutts@gmail.com.
